What we're looking for:
 

You are a Senior Datacenter Architect who will have subject matter expertise in Data Center, Server platforms, and Virtualization. This is a highly visible role. You must have excellent engagement and communication skills and must have a strong customer-focused, team-oriented, approach that balances security needs and user experience to provide best-in-class architecture solutions to the organization. Focus on leading automation efforts, cost reduction and optimization for our On Prem datacenter environments. The position requires you to work with all internal stakeholders and outside the organization. Position Overview:

We are looking for Senior Datacenter Architect for our Global datacenters and who will be responsible for design, architecture of datacenters, compute platforms and Virtualization services. Coordinates, prioritizes, and builds solutions to ensure the stability of the computing platforms for current and future growth. Drive datacenter migration technical engagements and initiatives. Partners with various business units and technology staff members to ensure IT platforms are built and operated to meet customer needs which includes management of design services, sizing and configuration assistance, and performing needs assessments.

Note: This is not a management position, its an IC level role.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Proven ability to develop architecture and provide design oversight for datacenter technologies - including Windows, Linux, Compute, and Performance that incorporates high availability, automation, operations supportability and scalability to a high volume, rapidly growing world class digital business.
  • Define data center system-level architecture including rack/server placement, HVAC, and power planning, document performance and equipment requirements, communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after projects
  • Develop and execute on a strategic data center architecture and technology plan that serves as a multi-year roadmap for high availability data center designs
  • Design and implementation of modernizing the primary data center to include rack layouts/ elevation and design solutions for new implementations and business requirements, document the scope of projects
  • You would design and implementation of a DMZ for services requiring internal and external access.
  • Demonstrates a proficiency in designing, deploying and securing server class operating systems, including both Microsoft and linux systems
  • Installs, manages, and monitors Virtualization Infrastructure such as Hyper V or any other Virtualization technology and serves as a system administrator when needed to help with complex company projects
  • Works closely with operations team to ensure server solutions to meet business needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with key leadership and stakeholders across IT to share, develop and execute on design/deployment strategies
  • Assists in the implementation/or modification of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs; including assisting in documenting, testing and modifying the companies DR/BCP plan
  • Facilitate the development of release plans, playbook, and transition to Data Center operations
  • Be motivated, dependable and capable of working with limited oversight.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent field
  • 8+ years focused in Data Center Architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of data center architecture, enterprise networking architecture, DC technology components, including facilities, server virtualization, network distribution, hybrid cloud, computing, high availability, redundancy, and automation
  • Experience with design, build, secure and operationalize scalable hosting solutions in for our data centers with a global footprint
  • Solid grasp of Server, Storage and Network Virtualization concepts and hands-on experience with Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of server class Windows systems and Linux systems, in depth understanding of TCI/IP, OSI, VOIP, VPN, Microsoft and Linux platforms.
  • Understanding of storage technology SAN, NAS, cabling
  • Proven experience in datacenter migrations, decommissioning / transitioning data centers and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing (business case, playbooks, architecture documentations) effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with enterprise virtualized environments (i.e. Microsoft Hyper-V, Xen Server)
  • Experience in Server hardware configuration, Blade enclosure configuration preferably HP.
  • Good to have experience with HPE Synergy and HCI / Nutanix would be a plus
  • Cloud design and architecture for Azure, GCP and AWS would be a plus
  • Knowledge of MS Active Directory and Project Management skills
