What we're looking for:

As a Manager for Design and Research Ops you help enable Wrike’s Product Design and Research group to run effectively to make products that are usable, enjoyable, and scalable for our customers. Partnering closely with Product Design, Product Management, Engineering, and business leaders, you help drive Wrike’s priorities through seamless day-to-day operations and strong stakeholder alignment, with an eye towards scale and efficiency. Wrike is a leading project collaboration cloud software with an innovative product that helps thousands of customers in 130 countries manage their projects, businesses, and employees. It is loved by global brands like Google, Airbnb, L'Oreal, Western Union, Fitbit, Hootsuite, Greenpeace, and startups around.

 

Role Overview

In this role, you’ll be a key leader for the product design team, leading end-to-end planning, execution, and operations of programs to make our team members successful in executing our product initiatives. You anticipate how decisions are made, persistently explore and uncover new ways of doing things, and work collaboratively with stakeholders. You have demonstrated strong performance in your prior roles; you thrive in ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.

 

What you'll do

  • Drive consistency and harmony in our teams operating rhythm partnering with Product and Engineering operations, and continuously improving our Software Development Lifecycle.

  • Optimize interaction models between Product, Engineering, Design, Creative, and Marketing, influencing cross-functionally to identify opportunity, unlock productivity, and accelerate execution.

  • Ensure recurrent functional meetings are well prepared, such as: design reviews within design team and with stakeholders and executives, Show and Tell, Design Leadership weeklies.

  • Help with ensuring functional goals and metrics are well set for both product and functional initiatives.

  • Manage the Design Debt backlog so that it represents the delta between the reality and the desired state in a priority order.

  • Recruit participant for Research studies and organise customer visits.

  • Research, advocate and plan budgets for best-in-class tools and services. Manage procurement.

  • Enhance team members development plans, looking for training and mentorship.

  • Document processes and decisions (Guru, Design System, Wrike).

  • Manage Product Design and UX Research Spaces in Wrike.

  • Manage and improve the process for new team member onboarding and their experience while going through onboarding.

  • Helping manage budgets.

  • Help organize team events.

  • Support Employer branding activities being the first point of contact.

  • Initiate and run projects across multiple simultaneous projects that significantly improve the Design org’s operations and create cohesion across Design disciplines.

  • Help with attracting and nurturing the best talent.

 

What we are looking for

  • Significant professional design experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions. You can take a vague problem, crisply frame the challenge, identify a path forward, and drive an initiative over the finish-line.

  • Track record of managing and shipping impactful design initiatives in a large digital product org.

  • Long-term strategic thinking balanced with near-term execution skills. Distinctive problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence business leaders.

  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience in mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. 

  • Demonstrated track record successfully managing ambitious and operationally complex projects with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in structuring and implementing initiatives at scale with design and product teams.

  • Background in establishing systems: experience developing process where little exists, and demonstrated flexibility to get things done.

  • Passionate and enthusiastic about organizational excellence and attention to detail.

  • Thrives in ambiguity in a fast-paced, hyper-growth organization.

 

Additional skills that will help you to stand out

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capability to distill complex ideas to their essence.

  • Experience with agile software design methods.

  • Deep knowledge of and appreciation for the Product Design process.

  • Experience with or understanding of cross-functional (Design, Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering) product-driven organizations.
