What we're looking for:

As a Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering team, you will be responsible for running resilient, large-scale, and multi-cloud based products in the App Delivery and Security Services team. The team culture combines the structured vision and process maturity of a well-established software company with the dynamism and vibrancy of a small startup. We are looking at your expertise and passion for solving difficult problems in distributed systems and build highly available services that operate on a massive scale.

Position Overview:

All our teams share a commitment to relentlessly improving the Security, Availability and Performance of the systems we build, whilst controlling Cloud Costs (COGS) and maintaining Compliance guardrails.

With a focus on improving uptime and reliability, you’ll lead a multi-geo team that builds innovative automated solutions and tools to help debug and resolve issues in production. With a problem-solving approach we think you’ll be a natural at seeking out system weaknesses before they can become production issues – monitoring data, analysing trends and using Chaos Engineering. We’d like you to help evolve our DevOps culture and take responsibility for driving the technical architecture and standards/processes needed to deliver the best customer experience.

Your team’s mission is to keep improving the reliability and availability of our cloud products by following the DORA metrics and scaling our cloud infrastructure to reach a consistent uptime higher than 99.95% at a global scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve the Security, Availability and Performance of the systems you build while managing Cloud Costs (COGS) and maintain Compliance guardrails
  • Identify and address patterns in infrastructure and applications that can be solved with a common solution.
  • Be the advocate to guide development team to build reliable and resilient service
  • Provide input and feedback to teams regarding decisions surrounding topics such as infrastructure, data architectures, and DevOps/SRE strategy
  • Keep your assigned cloud service up and running or getting it back up and running quickly when failure occurs
  • You will work closely with internal partners and teams to ensure that we ship software that meets security, SLA, and performance requirements
  • You will use Chaos Engineering to test what you build under real-world conditions
  • Participate in on-call and identify issues and drive them to resolution and conduct blameless RCA.
  • Drive technical solution development and provide direction to engineering teams
  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may impact your team’s ability to execute.
  • Create clear career paths for team members and help them grow with regular and deep mentoring
  • Build automation and tools that will increase the productivity of teams located in different GEOs.
  • Be proficient in one or more cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Have proficiency in developing cloud services or strong technical skills in cloud infrastructure.
  • Build automation using industry tools (like Jenkins, Ansible, Spinnaker, etc) to deploy hundreds of different services.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years working in the software industry with at least the last  5+ years’ experience in managing top-notch teams and experience in building software products for public clouds (AWS, AZURE, GCP) preferred
  • Should have experience building, running SaaS products that use micro-services architecture and platforms like Kubernetes
  • A body of experience building Cloud services and distributed systems – deployment, monitoring, scaling, debugging is desirable.
  • Experience working on networking products, firewalls and load balancers is desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's Degree is Highly Preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and solve deep technical issues
  • Demonstrable knowledge of running Agile/Scrum based teams
  • Must demonstrate an ability to technically own a product or a set of features
  • Must demonstrate an ability to technically own and negotiate cross-functional deliverables across the matrix organization.
  • Good understanding of technology trends in the virtualization/cloud industry (AWS, Azure, GCP, ESXi, KVM etc.). 
  • Experience in converting toil to automated jobs and identify recurring incidents using trend analysis.
  • Broad understanding of technology trends in the networking industry. Must be able to articulate and defend technical positions
  • Experience with logging platforms and application performance metrics is a must - NewRelic, Splunk, App Insights Analytics.
  • Experience with source control and continuous integration tools a plus -  Git/Stash, BitBucket is a must have.
  • You have a good understanding of security concepts at scale
  • You have the skill and ability to notice/observe patterns and ways to increase efficiency, eliminate downtime, optimize costs, and maintain performance at scale. 
  • You have worked to provide hands-on technical expertise to design, deploy, secure and optimize Cloud services. 
  • High energy with a can-do attitude.
  • Interpersonal skills to get things done together in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a distributed team environment across time zones
  • Able to demonstrate effective teamwork both within the immediate team and across teams.
  • Excellent communication (written & spoken) skills.
  • Proven track record recruiting and retaining top engineering talent
