What we're looking for:

As a Principal Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying and matching technology opportunities with a customer’s business issues and objectives, as well as channel partner training & enablement. Having multifaceted field sales experience, you will use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve sophisticated issues in creative and effective ways developing business value propositions around Citrix products and solutions. You will drive sales with technical expertise, account leadership skills, sales ability, and a superior customer focus. Participates as part of a sales team to achieve or exceed revenue targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • As an experienced technology professional, you will provide pre-sales technical support of the sales process across the Citrix Product suite.

  • Provides a role within the sales teams in assessing potential application of Citrix products to meet customers’ business needs.

  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations remotely or at customer locations/Citrix facilities on Citrix products value proposition

  • Has ability to build complex, multi-product proof of concept solutions for customer evaluations.

  • Demonstrates product knowledge to provide technical Citrix Expertise to internal sales teams, CSA/SI partners and end-users

  • Develop customer requirements that map to Citrix solutions assist with overcoming technical and competitive objections and accelerate the technical evaluation component of the sales cycle to close deals.

  • Demonstrates a consultative sales process to prospective users to resolve product capability assessment and validation as it applies to the technical sales process.

  • Works on issues that impact design/selling success or address future concepts, products, or technologies.

  • Creates formal networks with key decision-makers in assigned accounts.

  • Serves as an external spokesperson and evangelist for Citrix’s vision and associated technologies.

  • Ability to demonstrate and improve CSA/CSBA/SI/ISV partners as the fulfillment channel while working with Citrix end-user accounts on IT initiatives.

  • Provide regular and efficient updates on assigned accounts to sales engineering management.

  • Consistently provides a contribution to the broader team’s technical focus


  • Deep technical knowledge of all Citrix core products and complementary technologies

  • Proven ability to empower, train and conduct seminars to drive mind share within CSA partners to increase Citrix revenues within assigned territory

  • Has the ability to manage relationships with technical resources at all levels of a customer organization.

  • Thorough understanding of technical sales techniques and processes including the ability to understand customer needs, overcome objections, assist in the development of business cases, and technically close deals.

  • Able to articulate and understand the customer strategy and Citrix solution strategy to a technical level of detail for their technical area of focus.

  • Can independently communicate and present solutions at a C-Level

  • Ability to diffuse complicated technical and political situations with partners and customers.

  • Must be flexible, conscientious, and capable of quickly learning new products and technologies.

  • The individual should be able to apply a thorough understanding of one of the following areas of focus:

  • Desktop/Application/Server Virtualization

  • Enterprise Mobility Management

  • Networking

  • Exhibits a positive demeanor, represents Citrix to business partners and customers in the best possible fashion and cultivates interest in our offerings Prioritizes and manages several diverse tasks

  • Completes paperwork and uses internal Citrix account management applications in a timely fashion (expenses, CRM entries, feedback questionnaires)

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills

  • Strong work ethic, attitude, and follow-through ability.

  • Possesses a high level of specialized sales and product solution knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years sales engineering experience in high tech, indirect sales, and procurement environment with a record of success in driving customer adoption of technology

  • Ability to travel within assigned territory

  • The following certifications are beneficial but not required

  • Citrix Certified Enterprise Engineer (CCEE) or Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA) certification

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Administrator certification

  • Fluent English and Spanish (written and spoken)
