Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is a seasoned software engineer who designs, develops, troubleshoots, tests and debugs complex software applications, demonstrating for others how to resolve issues in innovative and practical ways. The role works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable and obscure factors, applying good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions; takes initiative in planning and prioritization of design and development activities to resolve a wide range of issues; interacts with senior internal and external personnel; and may act as a technical lead on complex projects. As a recognized specialist in one or more fields, the role is a key contributor to complex projects, advising on design and development approach. Through leadership and expertise, the Senior Software Engineer II acts as a role model to inspire, teach and help develop team members, moderates peer review and mentors junior staff.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for architecting complex features which are highly scalable working with various stakeholder across different geo.
  • Review and approve code check-in that is made on the assigned/owned projects.
  • Plans, organize and perform the technical work within area of specialization and is also comfortable in reviewing and suggesting improvements on other technology areas, as well.
  • Meet and exceeds standards for the quality and timeliness of the work products.
  • Works in concert with others toward shared goals, exhibits cooperativeness; participates in and supports effective conflict resolution, able to communicate and collaborate with remote peers in the US and other locations.
  • Ensures that communication channels are open and that information and ideas are flowing in all appropriate directions; listens, asks for and uses input.
  • Participates in and supports an environment that is conducive to innovation and new ways of doing things; exhibits curiosity and open mindedness; suggests new ideas.
  • Analyses, evaluates, and plans methods of approach to solve problems central to an assigned research or programming project. 
  • Creates expertise in implementing, unit testing, debugging and integrating code of moderate complexity
  • Contributes to work practice improvement through participation in post project reviews, and work practice improvement groups
  • Writes and conducts Automated/manual functional & system tests to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of developed or enhanced software
  • Coordinates own development activities on routine work and cooperates with other programmers and scrum team members on technical aspects related to the project
  • Works with other engineering teams on technical matters and may work with vendors or customers on technical information, handling escalation issues, or modifications related to projects
  • Keeps abreast of technical trends, develops knowledge and skills and incorporates them within assignments as appropriate
  • Provide subject matter expertise
  • Acts as engineering tools expert and can propose new ones.
  • Coordinates the technical design activity with others in department to ensure consistent and integrated approaches across projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Full time Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Engineering
  • At least 5+ years of Product Development experience
  • Expertise in Scala, Python, C# or other object oriented & functional programming languages.
  • Experience in Apache Spark, Scala and Kafka is a must
  • Hands-on experience with ML toolkits such as Scikit-learn, Theano, Tensorflow, Keras, Torch or similar machine learning tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of any NoSQL databases (Cassandra, CosmosDB, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Solid understanding of Big Data tech echo system e.g. Hadoop
  • Proficiency in building data models and measuring predictive/prescriptive analytics models (insights)
  • Detailed knowledge of cloud-based data warehouses, architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environments.
  • Experience architecting/developing modern multi-tenant cloud based Micro services.
  • Experience with source code controlled environments like GIT
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills, including the ability to build consensus among people with strong opinions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with at-least one of the Cloud service platform Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS
  • Building HTTP/RESTful web service APIs, JSON, Web2.0 technologies with CI/CD practices
  • Experience in using Static Code Analysis tools (SonarQube) and addressing Security Vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in build & deploy machine-learning models at scale on Kubernetes or equivalent
  • Experience with Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) databases like Redshift, Teradata etc.
  • Experience in any caching DBs like Redis Cache.
  • Experience in having designed, developed and shipped a product from scratch
  • Working knowledge of Test driven development
  • Hands-on experience of web based framework design and ability to develop reusable code.
  • Conversant with PowerShell
