Citrix Hypervisor is the flagship commercial release of the open-source Xen Hypervisor.
As well as being a product in its own right, Citrix Hypervisor also serves as a platform for other Citrix products, and for programs written by third-party ISVs. We're looking for a knowledgeable and deep-thinking Software Development Engineer to join a system test automation team working on several aspects of the Hypervisor product.
We'll give you the tools and learning support to participate in the software development process of a major, worldwide software company with both open- and closed-source projects at its core. We'd love for you to be at the heart of that, developing software with an immediate and lasting impact to both internal and external customers.
Undertaking a quality lead role for new features, developing and implementing test plans.
Developing, maintaining and supporting automated system test assets responsible for regression testing the Hypervisor product software.
Contributing to and driving Hypervisor quality improvement initiatives as a member of the System Quality Community of Practice (CoP).
Collaborating with development teams to fix critical Hypervisor defects.
Improving usability of the product through hands on interactions simulating customer use cases.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications:
We'd like you to have experience of Linux, be familiar with Windows and be comfortable developing features, making improvements and resolving issues, or tackling code, at a variety of levels. You'll probably have experience and knowledge of some or all of the following :
Bachelor's degree (or higher), preferably in software engineering, computer science or the physical sciences. Strong candidates with other applicable experience will also be considered.
Excellent software architecture, design and coding skills in an object oriented language such as Python, C++, C#.
A good understanding of software development lifecycles.
Knowledge of Linux platforms at a system and operating system level.
Strong debugging skills.
Good English reading/writing skills.
Concurrent/distributed programming experience.
Passionate about software quality and experience of developing test automation.
Additional optional skills:
Proven technical understanding of IT infrastructure and systems, including grounding in networking and storage fundamentals.
Agile development practices (SAFe and scrum being particularly relevant)
Understanding of operating systems.
Experience of open source software projects.
