You are a Senior Site Reliability Engineer having experience of at least seven years in the software or IT industry with a passion for developing, deploying, monitoring, and managing cloud services. You have expertise working with public cloud infrastructure providers like Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure You have a solid understanding of administering Linux systems as well as writing, debugging, administration, and automating languages such as Python, .Net, or Ruby.
Position Overview
You will help us build an autonomous cloud capable of reliably serving 1 billion users. As a Site Reliability Engineer, You will reinforce the key pillars of cloud systems: Security, reliability, performance, cost, and operational excellence. A key objective is designing and implementing web applications and RESTful services using a microservice-based architecture. The technology stack includes the AWS Platform-as-a-Service offerings, MySQL, and cloud-based observability tools. The product is built upon multiple languages such as Ruby, Python, Node, and C#. Your focus will be on improving system reliability and performance. We build autonomy into our products, tools, and environments to fully automate operations. Engineering autonomous and resilient platforms is paramount to our success. You will build innovative automated solutions to find, debug, resolve, and prevent problems in production before they occur. You will proactively seek out system weaknesses and find ways to fix them before they cause production issues using monitoring data, watching trends. You delight in pushing systems to their absolute limit with respect to throughput and performance.
Role Responsibilities
You will develop software and tooling with one or more languages
Debug and resolve complex problems over complex systems
Will deliver cloud applications and services with an emphasis on reliability by anticipating failures
Leverage observability and monitoring tooling to improve performance
Deduce and work on common patterns to host applications (Kubernetes, Docker, FaaS) and Networking – Security and connectivity between, into, and out of cloud services • Able to evaluate multiple data store and library options for the best fit to a problem
Identifying patterns in infrastructure and architecture to provide common solutions for multiple teams.
You will evangelize and contribute to best practices in library usage and end-to-end architecture • Work collaboratively with other teams to design scalable and robust systems using cloud native technologies
Authoring documentation and process automation for common tasks and issues • Eliminate toil and manual tasks with automated processes
Leverage continuous integration and deployment to improve delivery cadency. • Testing what you build in production scale using techniques such as chaos engineering
Basic Qualifications
You have an Engineering Degree (BE/BTech/BS) or higher in a computer science (or equivalent experience).
You have at least seven years of software development experience with one or more object-oriented programming languages. Emphasis on Python, Ruby, and .Net
Experiences with cloud-based observability tools such as Splunk, New Relic, and Datadog.
You are proficient in one or more large public cloud providers. AWS is preferred. • Strong understanding of common compliance and security frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, and FedRAMP
Have a good understanding of configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible. • Have a good understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
Familiar with managing and leveraging Jenkins as a continuous integration tool
Familiarity with serverless and containerization technologies • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL
Experience with planning and implementing disaster recovery plans
You have hands on experience building cloud services and distributed systems
You have a good understanding of security at scale • Demonstrable experience running a multi-tenant software-as-a-service application
Capable of collaborating within a team and across multiple teams to solve complex problems.
Hands-on technical expertise designing and deploying secure and optimized cloud services
Possess strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and motivation
